SDS Management Team

William M. Lynes, Chairman and CEO

William Lynes has 35 years of experience in development and business leadership. He holds several patents in the areas of electronic commerce and business process engineering. Mr. Lynes has designed data center and disaster recovery projects with IBM, The New England, John Hancock and Comdisco.

Larry Malone, President and COO

Larry Malone has more than 36 years of experience in the global IT industry, including executive sales and P&L management. Most recently, he was president of BT Infonet USA, a $121 million division of BT Infonet Services Corp. that provides cross-border managed data communication services for more than 3,600 multi-national companies.

Don Hauschild, CIO

Don Hauschild has 35 years of IT experience in industry and consulting with global technology, consumer products and manufacturing companies. He has held executive and consulting positions with fortune 500 and micro-cap startup companies and consulting firms. He worked for Ernst & Young, LLP Management Consulting for 12 years and served as a partner in the Chicago and Milwaukee offices from October 1993 through March 2000.

Patrick Gainer, CFO

Patrick Gainer, a 22-year veteran of Motorola, Inc., served in various senior level financial capacities, including VP and Director of Finance of its Automotive Group, as well as its Integrated Electronics Systems and Cellular divisions. Prior to Motorola, Mr. Gainer worked for KPMG. Mr. Gainer also serves on the board of Loyola University of Chicago - Business School.

Jeff Whittemore, VP Data Center Operations

Jeff Whittemore is an expert in data center power, connectivity, and data storage and server systems. With over 25 years of experience in data center design, construction, and operations, Mr. Whittemore has extensive business knowledge of high-volume transaction processing in the financial services and distribution industries. He is also experienced in providing outsourced services having run a hosting collocation business.

Jeff Pfeiffer, Director Product Management

Jeff Pfeiffer comes to SDS with extensive managed storage services experience in the areas of partner management, product management and operations. Previously, Jeff helped launch and manage several online backup and bare metal recovery service offerings for storage services provider Arsenal Digital.

Peter Gross

Peter Gross currently serves as President and CTO of EYP Mission Critical Facilities, Inc., which is currently being acquired by Hewlett Packard.

Richard Dent

Mr. Dent is the President and CEO of RLD Resources LLC and was an All-Pro defensive end for the Chicago Bears and a member of the 1985 NFL Champions. He was selected the MVP of Super Bowl XX.

Phillip Kenny

Mr. Kenny is, and has been for the last five years, an owner of and partner in Kenny Industries, a holding company for Kenny Construction Company, Seven K Construction, Northgate Investments, Casino Queen and Clinton Industries. Mr. Kenny serves as president of Seven K Construction and Northgate Investments.

Patrick H. Arbor

Pat Arbor served an unprecedented three terms as Chairman of the Chicago Board of Trade starting in 1965 – three years as its Vice Chairman, and one term as Director. Pat sat for three years on the Board of Governors of the Board of Trade Clearing Corporation—two of those years as a member of its Executive Committee. Today, Pat is Founding Partner of the trading firm of Skatkin Arbor, Inc., located in Chicago, IL.

William D. Smithburg

Mr. Smithburg has a 35-year career in Executive Management—serving many leading companies in the Fortune 500. He was the CEO, President and Chairman of the Board of The Quaker Oats Company. He is a Director of Abbott Laboratories, Corning Incorporated, and The Northern Trust Company. William is a senior member of the Board of Trustees of Northwestern University.

Phil Santoni

Phil is Founder and CEO of NetDirect Systems Inc., one of Hewlett-Packard’s Top 100 distributors. Phil’s 30 years in the computer industry have focused on marketing and sales generation for Information Technology software and computer systems. Phil’s company currently chairs the HP Distributor & Reseller Council—an HP community of 2000+ HP Distributors and Resellers.
